Misleading question, I know.
But here is my point.
In the time I have been in China, I know of 2 women who have married Brits, moved to UK, got passport and can now vote.
Thats cool. Thats what being a world citizen is all about. Taxation and representation and all that. UN human rights etc. Suberb.
But me, as a Brit, I have no vote in Britland because I have been away for too long. I cant be allocated to a constituency.
Do other countries have this voting problem too?
Do you get any rewards while you vote? ... like at blood donation ... free lunch..
I'll never vote till they don't change that 'no-reward' part.
... You tell them on the voting pole:
"Free lunch or old passport!?"
... and stay firm!
ScotsAlan:
Icniff....you are a gentle spring blossom filled breeze, giving respite between pointless right wing tornadoes full of spinning hatred and bigotry.
haha,,, Too hard to vote in 'ol Blighty, and too easy in the land of the Yanks... I'll take making it too hard any day of the week.

World citizen, aren't they British citizens ? Or is your racist mind incapable of seeing them as Brits because their not white?
Add to it, your sick demented mind is outright lying about the UK.
coineineagh:
Scotsalan is right. If you haven't lived in the UK for over 15 years, you can't vote in elections despite valid citizenship. I last lived in Britain when I was 9 yo, so the same applies to me, too. UK election questionnaire explains it when you try to apply for voting abroad.
Hotwater:
What was racist in his life signal post?
Proif of address is one point. Being non tax resident is another.

The 2 he's referring to as world citizens are actually now British citizens referring to them as anything else because they're not white is racist.

Here's what Stots is doing, these Chinese can vote but me a real British citizen can't.
coineineagh:
Declaring it racism is jumping to conclusions. Scotsalan just learned that voting legitimacy is a two-way Street, and that you can lose your voting right if you've been away too long. It can come as a shock if you always assumed your citizenship grants you full participation rights. I'm a double passport holder, so I could accept the limitation without being all too bothered about it; I have plenty advantages to compensate. I didn't even realise I could get a British passport until my 20s, when a Dutch government document made mention of my dual citizenship status.
Do you know 'Femen'?
https://www.rt.com/news/420427-berlusconi-vote-femen-topless/
Footage posted online by RT's Ruptly agency shows Berlusconi arriving at the polls in Milan amid a sea of journalists. As he smiles at the cameras, he is startled by a topless girl with “Berlusconi, your time has run out" scrawled across her chest, and the word “FEMEN” written on her back.
Berlusconi immediately walks away as the woman continues to shout the slogan "Berlusconi, time has run out!" The cameras turn to the protester, who is eventually dragged away.
It's not the first time the 81-year old has been confronted by bare-chested protesters from the movement. The same thing happened in 2013, when three FEMEN activists approached him in a similar way, according to Italian news outlet Rai.
I know Berlusconi liked that 'exposed tits protest' when he approached poling station for the vote.

Liberals have racist in their midst too. This post is a fine example new passport holder vs old passport holder, has nothing to do with passtort this has to do with citizenship, they are citizens same as you. Your euphemism doesn't sneak by me.
You think their 'new passport' makes them any less of a citizen?
Get off your lazy brain damaged ass and take the steps to fulfill the requirements,
Establish residence, contact a friend or even a civil rights group and use their address. Hell even a homeless shelter would allow you.
File for taxes even if you owe no money you should still file.
Stop making excuses and saying ypou can't and find a fucking way.
You are very much like the conservative racists, you sit on your ass pointing at the 'new passports' rather than doing your duty
coineineagh:
Agree to disagree on your conclusion. I think you're adding too much unproven meaning to relatively innocent comments about citizenship, here.
Englteachted:
coin: What do racists do (in the US at least) ? They get upset at immigrants (the ones who come in legally) blaming them for their own problems but the opportunity was always there. The only difference between scots and those racists in Italy is that scots is using code words (New passports). Get off your ass and take the steps necessary to take advantage of the opportunity
coineineagh:
His words can indeed be interpreted as you explain it, but intent matters. You are calling attention to latent racism which is below the surface in most people, you and me included. Scotsalan is not blind to static identity aspects, even though he tries to be inclusive/liberal. You're saying that because he made mention of new citizens and their acquired rights, in the context of him losing voting rights, that means he harbours some unspoken resentment towards immigrants in Britain. I'm of the opinion that resentment should be willful and clear, not as a slip of the tongue or a careless choice of words. But, just as certain liberals (unbalanced ones) lay too much blame on conservatives for their statements, you are free to do the same with liberals. It's not my definition of even-handedness, but mileage may vary...
Scotsalan, in case you didn't know this one yet: when your children are born abroad they are British, but if your grandkids, a 2nd generation, is born abroad, they only have the nationality of their birth country / other parent's nationality. Not British anymore. Britain employs a mixed territorial/parental citizenship paradigm nowadays. Citizenship can't be transferred abroad indefinitely, and in a way that makes sense really.
If you want you grandchildren to be British, best to plan aheadwell in advance!
