I had to renew my passport the other day in Beijing, and I arrived there early (Thursday morning) and found an unbelievably long long that snaked from the metal lattice gate, through the inside courtyard, passed the security check, all the way into the halls of the embassy's ground floor. There were perhaps 15-20 booths in there and hundreds of Chinese.
Of course, I just had to show my passport to walk past them all, but damn, made me feel happy to be American. Another American passed me and pointed to the Chinese, saying most people were here but had already been rejected 4 or 5 times.
Got me wondering, what's the statistics on this? How often does the States grant visas to Chinese here? Is it a fool's errand?

Considering how great the likes of wenna7 say it is here, if you go to any western embassy it's like that, goes to show if possible most would choose to leave here!! I've heard many say "I'm never going to leave China, I love China, the next thing you know they latched onto a foreigner and moved or applied to immigrate... Liars... I believe they say that to save face in case they get turned down by immigration or in wenna7's case find it impossible to sink their claws into a western man...
