Q: Anybody else getting annoying pop-up adverts on ECC?

Last 2 or 3 days I’m getting multiple pop-up adverts on the answers pages.

Halfway up the right side is a Hong Bao / messag box that can’t be removed.

Botton on of the page is a full width banner that when I try to close with the X tries to open a new window.

Im getting this using Safari on iPhone. Anyone else having this problem?

Try 'Opera' (with free VNP, which is blocked in China, but it works also without VNP switched-on) or 'Safari' browser entirely without pop-ups.

I see your last sentence .... I don't have any pop-ups not even with Safari OS on Mac.

You might need to disable 'Location Services' under 'Security' tag on Sys Preferences.

Good reply Icnif. The thing is it’s only ECC where I get these pop-ups. No other websites. I’ve even got an adblocker installed.

icnif77:

It might be IP-sniff or similar software to get your puter/device's print/ID and is masked as pop-up.

They appeared on my Android phone today. Not only do they take up a significant part of the screen but it opens spam app page too. Not to mention they are all in Chinese. Rather than some misguided marketing strategy it is an annoying waste of money and effort....grrrrrrr

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
