Q: Anyone had a BCD at the visa office?

So I just got back after spending all day at the visa office. Triple checked everything to make sure I had the correct stuff. The line was massive, so I patiently waited. Finally she started inputting my details in the computer and everything was fine until right at the end the whole system crashed. She told me to come back Monday, Problem is my visa expires on Sunday. I asked for a receipt to say that I'd given all my documents in, she said it wasn't possible, she handed me back my passport and kept the other documents, then told me to come back Monday.

Do you think I will get a fine for overstaying my visa? She guaranteed I wouldn't, but what if it's another person on the desk on Monday. What do you guys think? She also mentioned that the visa takes 5 working days to process. My plane out of here is next Sunday the 7th. Will the visa even be finished in time? Ugh.

If you are in a small city I would say it was ok but if in a Big city she should have given you a receipt number incase she is not there on Monday and you need to locate your paperwork

Did you get her name or ID so you can ask for her if you can not see her on Monday?

I hope you have copies of your papers incase this goes South on Monday

Make sure you tell us the outcome and Good Luck

Rin:

Yeah, I am in a small city, but still a bit worried. I have copies of everything. Unfortunately her name was Miss Li.. I wonder how many Miss Li's work in the visa office! Hmm.

I had that problem once in Guilin, but the officer was kind enough to write me a note in case I got into any trouble.

Then, after the weekend, I got registered without a problem.

Hulk:

I got that note with a stamp.

It sounds lie a dodgy situation. GRaf's answer with getting a note sounds like the safer alternative. But these people are after all human, if you find the same person I doubt there will be any problem, and even if you don't find the same person, they will all know there was a technical glitch.

Contrary to this, my last visit to the PSB was extremely delightful. From we entered the door until we left with a reciept for pickup a week later was in total 20 mins. And that includes filling of the form, going to the next door copy shop (that place must be a gold mine) for copying my last entry stamp, waiting for the queue (just one person in front of us) and the person processing the application did so swiftly without unnecessary looking at all the papers.

Best of luck Monday

BCD happens everywhere, at any time.

It's omnipresent.

I did this once. Overstayed for that reason. I turned myself in at the PSB and explained the whole situation, as a friend advised me to do. They just gave me a slap on the wrist and said "no problem." Do go to the PSB and explain the situation, and get a stamped document if possible. What that document is... I don't know.

As long as it is stamped, they really dont care....indecision

Could go in either way, but if the network did crash, then Im sure that there will be no problem for you on Mon, but Rin, why did you wait until the last min? I always have my company renew one month in advance, if you are on a Z visa, never rely on the mei wen ti mentality, I have learned this means, no problem for me, big problem for you.

I am actually changing from a work visa to a tourist visa. I want to travel in China for a bit after finishing my contract. They advised me at the police station to wait until my visa was almost expired as they can only give me a thirty day tourist visa from the date I apply. So if I apply on the 28th it would be valid until 28th July meaning I could get the maximum number of days after leaving this city.

Yes! I got my visa, one entry. 304 RMB. Valid until 27th of July. Hopefully I can extend it for another month. I'm not sure with all these new visa regulations!

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
