Q: Anyone out there recently bought an oven that they like?

I looking for something big enough to bake a 10-12 in. pizza, pumpkin pie, or a small cake, I actually saw one in a department store in Wuhan that had a built in rotisserie for baking a chicken it cost 800 RMB, but wondering if any of you have any better ideas. Also once you find an oven where in the hell do you find the bake ware? I am looking to keep the whole set up under 2000 RMB - Thanks

We have a 3 year old Changdi oven. I use the metric system, so cannot comment on pizza sizes, also, as the trays are rectangular, that is the shape of my pizzas. It can spin a chicken if that floats your boat. It only goes to 230C, on the low side for pizza, but it works, as long as the dough is made from good ingredients and you get a decent cheese, then it is no problem outperforming Pizza Huh.

If my oven where to blow up this minute, then I would get this http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1.w5003-3326473953.11.4EItC5&id=10904344888&rn=b257e1084be18a27da6c0fbab05ea882&scene=taobao_shop

The one we have only has 4 heating elements, heat distribution isn't perfect, so there is a corner of the pizza that will be extra crunchy.

You want to look at the wattage of the heating elements. Anything below 2000 watt is only suitable for heating stuff.

Thanks for all the info. I will take a look at it :-)

I bought a halogen oven its really good and will cook just about everything a western oven will, its not expensive and cheap to use.  I got mine from Taobao (my boss ordered it for me) and I use it every day even when I eventually go back to the UK I will buy another one.  Today I am cooking a beef dinner in it with all the trimmings  of Yorkshire  pudding and roast potatoes  yummy, mine cast 180 yen, hope this helps.

I have this oven, works great for baking bread, roasting beef, whole Christmas turkey. It is 60 Liters so comparable to full size oven 2200 watts.

Oven made by Beko awesome, has upper, lower and middle in-wall with fan elements with 12 different element settings, you can make anything I cooked a full size turkey , not a counter top oven if that's what your looking for .

We bought a small oven for less than 200 RMB, local unknown brand. It's just an aluminum case with 2 resistors. The timer is a mechanical one. The only electric control is heat control. It's a piece of crap, just good enough to bake cookies. No ventilation, so the cooking is always uneven.

* Buy a hoven with ventilation
* Check that it's not a 'aluminum box with a few resistors' design
* See it as investment, throw some money at it.
