Q: Are all Chinese medicines over the counter or are prescriptions needed?
I've noticed that many of my friends just walk into a pharmacy when they're feeling in and come back armed with a ton of Western and Chinese medicine a few minutes later. Many of drugs are anti-biotics but I'm not aware that any of them had a doctor's prescription. So it got me wondering, are all drugs available for purchase over the counter or are there are some exceptions here?

It depends on the pharmacy, I've built up a friendship with one in particular who trusts that I am not reselling and sells me practically (but not totally) anything I need with a 'scrip.
It's illegal to sell medicines in pharmacywhich request doctor's prescription . Just keep this in mind!
You can get most items without a pescription. But for the heavy stuff, you will need a doctors note.
