Q: The attitudes of Chinese media towards the US elections
Have you noticed any interesting comments on the US elections in Chinese media in kind of who would be the best choice for China? I am following the official media channels, but it's quite difficult for me to answer the question which of the candidates is preferred in China. Interestingly Trump's comments on China didn't seem to have alarmed many people here. On the other hand, many Chinese-language news channels have been openly calling Hillary the mother of ISIS and perpetually repeating the email thing, while trying to play down some of the Trump's remarks. At least that's how it looks in my opinion. How to explain this?
The way I see it, the whole thing was probably a 50:50 for the Chinese as Clinton was a guarantee to more (or the continuation of existing) shitty deals in their favor but on the other hand Trump is a more reliable negotiator they may reach deal with on some military issues to balance the cost of potential protectionist measures.
So they treated the thing like an entertainment show without really favoring anyone (which they don't do anyway and that's to their credit).
American news is well more entertaining than Chinese news. I am a brit, and I follow American news. So much fun. Following big money propaganda in the political system is a hobby. Guessing who paid for what. Chinese politics is just so monochrome. No colour at all.
It's strange that they are trying to play down Trumps remarks considering that he thinks global warming is a hoax created by the Chinese
Mainlanders have been trained to stay out of politics (for the sake of their lives). So, in some ways it's not surprising. Combined with this is the CCP's antagonism towards anything even remotely 'democratic' (which is precisly what the US system is... something only remotely 'democractic' 
), and the only thing you'd ever hear over here would be how bad the whole system is.
Look at it the other way... if it was all publicised all over the media here, then the locals might start to get it into their heads that it's ok to verbally attack their betters in the CCP - to mock them, to defame them... or heaven forbid, to actually get them to account for their actions (as per Clinton emails and money).

he American way of electing a president has to be among the dumbest ever created. If you want to screw things up that is the way to go. Democratic president republican house or reverse.All it is is a carnival so lots of enterprising people can make a financial killing. Why not have the ruling party pick the president? What a bunch nonsense it all is. Hope Trump does a good job for us. At least he does not need to be in every ones pocket like Hillary. In 2014 she made $35,000,000 on a secretary of sates salary ? Where did the other $34,850,000 come from? I am sure she has more offshore numbered bank accounts than the mob. Besides all this I can't stand power mad Hillary

The problem is that Americans (like most patriotic people of all countries) believe that their country is the best, and therefore everything they do must also be the best, and thus refuse to look for how things are done in other countries.
The US in particular has this blindspot when it comes to 'democracy', given that they've been forcing it on other countries for decades (which, coincidentally, looks very much like the way they accuse Russia and China of doing things - only having the one at the top that you (the US government) want). This has the unfortunate consequence of having non-democratic nations look at the American system and say "proof that democracy doesn't work", rather than looking at all the other countries where it does! (sure, it ain't 'perfect', but at the moment, no system is!)
In the world rankings of democracy, open government and transparency, the USA comes somewhat down the list of (stable) democratic nations...
I guess Trump should be more protectionist, so perhaps they think it'll be better for them because the US will be less in the region. I think it's a bit uninformed however because the Republicans now hold both Houses and have a Republican President so they might want to extend their militaristic activities in the region... But then again Trump might be hard to handle for them!
If he goes ahead and arms South Korea and Japan however...
