Q: Bands/orchestras/musicians playing in China - sign that they're crap?

Obviously, not including the top 4 cities, especially Beijing and Shanghai, if a band/orchestra/random group of musicians come to play in China, is it a sign that they're either crap or on the wane?

Well, if they do well here, it means they have Chinese fans. What other reason would they need?

If by suck you mean they're off the popular music map in North America, then perhaps yes. But that being said i haven't seen many acts I'd pay to see period.. But some friends just saw Death Cab for Cutie play a tiny crowd in Shanghai.. and they'd never seen them at home...

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
