Q: Best online shopping sites in China?

I know Taobao, 360buy and tmall, but are there any other shopping sites that can be interesting and/or easy to use for expats?

amazon.cn... Strongly recommend, especially for expensive purchases.   I tried buying a $1200 laptop from tmall once and my order sat for a week and then got canceled for no apparent reason.. I learned later that it was because my credit card company wanted more proof / identification from the tmall shop that it was a legit purchase from me and they were just either too lazy to submit the information my credit card company asked for, or just didn't notice that it needed to be done and the transaction got canned by the credit card company..

So I placed the exact same order at amazon.cn and within about 24 hours, they called me twice during the daytime here in China (I missed both calls) and sent me an e-mail.  I had to provide a cell phone photo of my driver's license to Amazon and then my order went through after that.

I called my credit card company about half a dozen times to tell them to let the transaction go through, but they said that it's not them, rather it's Amazon that is requiring the extra verification...Hard to believe, but whatever. At least my order went through in the end and Amazon did what tmall couldn't.

Since then, I've purchased a lot of expensive things from amazon.cn and they haven't ever asked again to confirm my identity.

I use the classified sections on echina and thebeijinger sometimes. I just give the person a call or drop them a message. I usually get a reply right away so I would have to say the classified sections.

i like good old taobao

but you have to read reviews and buy the things that a lot of people bought before to make sure you get something that works, everything is low quality here but sometimes low quality is not very low
