Q: Can I have my visa changed?

I want to know if it is possible to have changed the number of days, the length of stay, by going to the headquarters of the loval Security Bureau? I now have a multipe entry visa, but do not wish to leave the country [to HK or?] I will be married soon to a Chinese citizen and wish to live there permanently.
Anyone any wonderful solutions?
Thanks much.

No, you cannot have the number of days changed on your existing visa, but you can get an extension for 30 days quite easily, the cost depends on your country of origin. They will put a new visa in your passport. Depending on the area you get it renewed in, it is best to only go in a day or two in advance. Since many things are inconsistent here, It is best to go ask the PSB exit & entry dept. what documents are required for extension, it differs everywhere...

On another note, once you get married you will usually be entitled to get 6 month L family visa issued in your wives hometown. If your wife is from Beijing or Shanghai I have heard of getting one year visa with an additional health check...
