Q: Can jewellery (3pcs) be shipped to China, as it's a gift, not for resale.

Some couriers won't accept the pickup, 2 necklaces and a pair of earrings.

Yes they can. You need to find a different courier and clearly state it is a gift on the paperwork.

Make sure it is a courier that has tracking as you'll want to see where it is during transit and trace it if it does not get delivered

Try the same courier and tell you are shipping Christmas tree decor ....

What does it mean 'not for resale'?

I mean, how can you prove that it won't get sold (for an eternity) to the custom?

You can't, so don't even mention it if you'll walk into China ....Custom offical will determine if items are for resale by quantity and confiscate them. 3 pieces of jewerly aren't 'resale' no.'.
