Will Luckin Coffee replace Starbuck in China?
Luckin coffee is delicious. They ran a campaign where if you referred their app to your friends you could get a free coffee of your choice! I drink matcha though so I think 25 Yuan is a bit pricey.... But I will choose them over Starbucks any day!
Not tried it yet. Their advertisements are everywhere but I still know nothing about their coffee. Looking forward to see how they do in a few years.
Several chains have open in major cities but they usually are empty when I walk by them.

Luckin Coffee startup challenging Starbucks in China worth $1 ...
First, Luckin Coffee revolves around the smartphone. When customers walk into one of its blue-and-white shops, they’re immediately asked to download the Luckin app to order coffee (assuming they haven’t done so already). They can pay using WeChat payments or Luckin’s own “coffee wallet”—but not cash. This fits into China’s so-called “new retail” trend, in which tech giants like Alibaba and Tencent partner with supermarkets and convenience stores on mobile payments, analytics, and inventory management.
Luckin has also aggressively promoted its delivery services—of its 525 outlets, 231 are kitchens dedicated exclusively to filling orders placed in offices, homes, or elsewhere. This mimics China’s boom in e-commerce and food delivery, which has thrived on the back of low-wage couriers.

Enjoy that cheap labor while you can, when they start inflating the money and the demographics kicks them in the ass, it should be a great short sell.

If you read Luckin's MO, it's just a control over using the Internet ... Nobody drinks coffee in China anyway. It's going to take some 20-years just to establish the coffee-culture.

yes, starbucks cut a deal with Jack Ma and alipay for delivery of coffee in 2000 stores in China to cut the new company off at the knees.
Some venture capitalists that put 200 million into the company will be waiting a while for the payoff.
I have never been able to verify this but the Starbucks manager in Jinan told me almost everything that might have a quality issue is shipped from America straight to the stores in China with no warehouse. Sometimes the machines were made in China, inspected in America and sent back to China to the store. So cinammon powder is shipped to the US put in bottles and sent back to a Starbucks China, the Mcdonalds meat scandal made starbucks weary of using any Chinese vendors. I asked the manager one day while looking at cardboard boxes of supplies that said "made in the usa", thought it was my vision going bad.

Time to bail out of Europe and fold, when the big money leaves, the downturn is near.
Watch for more companies, if its a trend, short Europe soon.
