Q: China Summer Travel Vacation Ideas

I am trying to decide on some places to visit this summer in China. I have been here for many years, and I have done the usual spots. Anything very unique and special that you can recommend? Must see type of places.

I am thinking about doing the Yangtze River Cruise again. I really enjoyed it, but I have already done it and would prefer to do something new and different.

I am also contemplating another trip to Yunnan Province. I have been there, but did not get to see all that I wanted to see.

I am not a big cities type of person, so try to steer me clear of those kinds of locations.

Not sure of the Tibet restrictions, but there are some places off the beaten path there if you have a good connecting tour guide. I went to a nunnery that most people never see and some caves that had not been burned out by flame throwers yet, but soldiers in tents were everywhere in the city. It was worse than the British occupation with the IRA troubles years ago.

You ever been to Inner Mongolia? Hohhot for camel riding and grasslands.

Stiggs:

Yeah Inner Mongolia is great in summer.

If you go to Yunnan go to kunming and go visit” The kingdom of the little people” ....it’s actually pretty fun and the little people make pretty good crafts and little odds and ends. ....it’s the closest thing to the shire in lord of the rings.... if all the hobbits were Chinese. It’s a bit exploitive...well actually it’s very exploitive.... but they put on a pretty good show.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
