Q: Daytrips from Suzhou. Suggestions anyone?

Just itching to get out of the city, even if it's just for a day.

Shahu Eco Park is great for escaping the crowds and reconnecting with mother nature. It's the biggest park in the SIP and eaily reached by bus. Despite being a fairly new park, it has enough trees and rocks to make you feel like you've escaped from the city.

Another good option is Jinji lake, which is also located in the SIP. You've got a number of dining options available here and it makes for a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A: Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever
A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
