Q: Do they have any other sports camps besides basketball in China?

I've heard of the basketball camps they have in China, but I haven't heard of any soccer camps,  baseball camps etc., Why is that?

There is a baseball camp in Beijing.  Well, maybe not a camp, but more like a "farm team".  Both the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox from the US are running these "training camps" outside of Beijing.  Basically, they are looking for the Yao Ming of baseball, hoping to bring it into popularity here in China.

In Shanghai, there are a lot of children's soccer leagues.

My question to the OP is what does he mean by a sports camp?  A summer sports camp? A winter holiday sports camp?  What kind of a sports camp?  Full-time? Part-time?

"981977405"....good question..................... if Mattaya is referring to something like a Hockey School...we don't refer to it as a "camp"....there are two in Harbin. Hockey is a tough sell here but there is a grassroots movement that has been alive in Northern China for some time now. Without it, I'd be lost.

I had a Canadian friend who worked in Harbin who played with hockey with the team of his university, I think.  I know that he played hockey with the locals who could really play well. Maybe you are referring to this ... and you are right ... it's a hard sell for a sport in Harbin that should almost be second nature, so to speak.

derek:

I worked in three hockey schools there, I'm in Daqing now and trying to get someone to go for a skate here. Another hard sell.
