Your age will likely be an issue unfortunately. A western friend of mine, age 63, was offered a directorship of a major manufacturer in China. A mega buck job, degrees up to his armpits, and loads and loads of trouble to get a work permit. He got one in Shanghai in the end.

Teaching might be different tho. You can but try.

Good luck.

ESL has an age limit, 60. So you'd probably could get a job in a small town with a salary between 6000 to 8000 RMB, but you'd have to work illegally.

Probably but you would have to lower your expectations. Like ironman says, your salary will most likely be around 6000 rmb and in a smaller city.

People will treat you both as a novelty and a escaped zoo animal. Haha.

But it will be an experience. I should know.

They are two old in the age of information. And the age gap ... they cannot really understand the students.

A qualified elderly who STILL wants to work and live abroad.

I mean, you'd have to be heartless not to be touched at least a little bit.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
