So, I know eliminating cars on the road have already been implemented as their strategy to getting rid of the pollution. I'm not sure if they already started to plant many trees but that would be one way of eliminating the pollution even further. Can you think of any others?

I think China should bring in a one person per famliy policy...This will help by eliminating many problems.
Regulating the factories, cutting down on energy consumption, recycling...
The factories are the biggest contributors. If Beijing, China would regulate and enforce the factories to clean up their act, the pollution would drop significantly. It will take time, of course, but they could do it.
Strictly enforced regulations on factories would solve most of the pollution problem. Also, people burn coal for heat in the winter, and that causes pollution, along with the fact that most homes are extremely inefficient. That wastes energy, and can cause problems, even if it's not pollution. There are so many ways, but none of them are being used.
The Chinese had the choice between regulating and planning things at the cost of a small amount of short-term profit, and having a significantly lower lifespan/taking a hit on their long-term profit.
They made their choice.
Quit farting and breathe more and faster to clean the air.
Nothing is going to improve it, until the average person cares enough about the pollution. Companies aren't going to spend money to be more eco friendly while the average person has no problem wasting resources and throwing trash whereever.
