Q: do you have trouble with email/ windows 7

Windows 7 has no email program, I can DL Windows Live mail, but don't like it. I was using Explorer to check Hotmail, then it froze, will DL mail but I can not do anything else. I read this is a problem and to use Mozilla, which I have been. Now it is frozen. Same with Google chrome.  can not find any fixes. I also don't think my emails get sent from another program as I never get replies. I usually get more email than I want, but now only one or two show up. I know this is a problem on Windows7, Anyone else experience this or have a fix?

Use gmail. Kind of iffy in China, but less so in the last few months. Hotmail has all knids of problems

Windows freezes and bluescreens, for no obvoius reason, and always will till the end of tme, amen. You'll either have to learn to live with it (what I've been doing for the last six months long story kill myself), or get Ubuntu, which is amazingly user-friendly nowadays and doesn't freeze but you'll want to download, burn a disk, partition your hardrive big headache.

There's bascially no winning with computers.

TedDBayer:

Yes I hate computers, one of my fantasies is to use a really big sledge hammer on one, but I don't own a big one, the small one would take too long. I'm actually using Bell mail which goes through Hotmail,, been using it forever, so hate to change my addy. I liked the old Outlook, and don't think Windows Live is better, same with programs,,I'd rather be using Windows (*. LOL

Outlook is a big malware magnet. I'd stay away. I'm pretty sure you can reroute it to gmail, though.

I feel for you.  Before I got a VPN my hotmail would almost never work.
Gmail is hit or miss...sometimes good sometimes bad.
The $13.00 I pay a month is very much worth the hassle free surfing and emails.  I can't even imagine life here without it now.....and I hate Facebook....I just use it to avoid all the normal hassles.
The only other solution is to buck up for Microsoft Office and set up your Outlook account to fetch your hotmail emails.

TedDBayer:

I have a VPN, will try MS office. if not its comforting to know that if I toss my computer off tha balcony, an archeologist will find it someday in the future, just laying in pieces where it lands and I will have my place in China history. [because no one picks  up the garbage]

Well, then it sounds like you are having issues with your comptuer or your VPN is not on or working. Most of the issues you are talking about sound like your VPN is not working.

I do have Windows 7 Ultimate, and do use Yahoo email without a problem here.  Maybe two or three times a month will show "not responding", but I will close it and reopen and then works perfect for me.

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
