Q: Does anyone work and study in China?

Is it possible to study at university while legally working in China on a Z visa? Silly question, but just throwing ideas around in my head. If this describes you I'd like to hear what you are studying.

Not legally, no. When they redid the Visa laws last year, they were very clear: no part time teaching on a student visa.

Hotwater:

Re-read the question. The OP is legally working here on a Z visa/residence permit and also wants to study. I don't see that there would be any problem, though I don't know if any of the Universities do part time courses. I think some of the offer masters degrees at weekends in Guangzhou but probably all in Chinese.

More specifically: Could you work full time and take some university classes part time?

if you fulfill the terms of your contract, what you do in your free time like a hobby or a course (not another job) is probably ok.
