On normal, yes. I can have daily skype chats with no problem. But there will be days that the internet connection is just crap and will drop your call many times. This has been a constant no matter how big of a city in China either myself or the person I am calling is in.

Warning: my vpn caused skype to no longer work for me . It won't even open . I know several others who had this same problem .

Yes it works fine 95% of the time. As DaBen said, occasionally you can drop out with a bad line but that bad line can be at the receiving end as well. I find they all work well - YM, QQ and Skype.

Skype video feed works just fine. Additionally I have found that the QQ video feed also works fine.  MSN and Yahoo are very good but the quality of the feed is not as high as on skype nor as on QQ.

I find it works best if I avoid it during busy hours. When I skype back to Canada, I do so early in the morning, or after midnight. From about 5-10 and on weekends (especially if the weather is bad), the internet slows to a crawl in most of the cities I've been in.

Only one time have I been unable to use it; normally I use it twice a week and it's up to the usual Skype standards.
