Q: Employment lawsuit: Wanna here the latest?

We won!  But it's far from over.  The arbitration courts awarded us over 20 thousand in back pay and remanded the unpaid Social Insurance back to the social insurance bureau.  My ex employer is required to give me a clean release through SAFEA.  The original amount we asked for was higher, (plane ticket, didn't get it) but they awarded us severance pay equal to 1/2 months wages.  So it's settled, but my employer, "Hamp" and "sons", has the ability to ignore the order for another 60 days.  Then it becomes automatically enforceable.  It's not the greatest process, but it works, just in the Chinese pace of things.  I'm happy.

good news on the outcome.

Hopefully the fact that you were a legal worker that went to SAFEA won't be lost on FT's who think they will be ok working here on an 'F' or 'L' visa.

That was courageous of you to push into court, and it's great news to see the case arbitrated relatively swiftly and fairly. If more people have you courage, there's hope for rule of law and (foreign or not) worker's rights here Smile

Lawsuits in China with the same 'actors' as in your case are rare. This is the first time I read laowai won settlement in Chinese Court. Congrats! 'hear (with your ears)', meiyou '(present) here'
