Q: English teaching for non-native speakers, how much are you paid?

Hi there,

I am not a native English speaker and actually I am looking for a job in marketing but.... in the meantime I had a lot of requests to teach English and some income would be nice. I am a native Italian speaker and  I'd rather to teach Italian instead but in China there is not so much demand as for English... :(

How much should schools pay me for hour?

How much are you paid as a non native English speaker teaching English?

Thank you so much for your answers!

If you're white most Chinese won't care that you're not a native speaker, so go ahead and ask for the same amount as native speakers.

Woah....those numbers mentioned above must be for 1st tier cities.

I worked with a Frenchman in Qingdao who had extremely limited English and he earnt Y5000 mth where some native speakers were earning a thousand or so more.

Now I'm in a much smaller city and I know a Filipino who earns Y5,500/mth and two men from Ghana who are on Y7,000/mth.

I'm from Australia and I earn Y9,000/mth.  Plus some extras.

Your writing suggests to me that your English is as good as, or better than, many of the 'native' speakers that I've met.

What city are you in?

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
