I heard it wasn't. You could get shanghai-ed and end up working on a Chinese aircraft carrier.

Don't know what companies sail from that port, but I believe both CKS and TurboJet sails from Guangzhou to Hong Kong. I have sailed a lot with both companies on other routes.

Ferry or bus, my guess is the safety is better on the ferry, and if the weather is clear it is a far nicer way to enter Hong Kong than the borders in Shenzhen.

The most danger you will be in is if you have the cake in first class (the money for first class is wasted, although there is a couple of the ferries that does not have fully transparent windows in monkey class)

I have taken this ride many times and never had any trouble.

diverdude1:

could you tell us a bit more about it? I am very much considering doing this journey in the near future. any details would be appreciated. I was wondering how one clears HK customs.... is it done when u board the vessel? I was also wondering where one docks in HK, I suppose near enough to an MTR station? I typically wanna end up in TST.
