Q: Foreigner/Expat friendly real estate agents in Hefei

Hi everyone,

I will be moving to Hefei soon and wanted to ask if anyone of you knows good real estate agencies in town which are experienced with foreigners? My Chinese is not very good, so I need someone who can speak good English and is experienced with my needs as an expat.

Thanks a lot in advance!

all real estate agents will be friendly: they will want your money with little regard to your wishes.

If you are going to work in Hefei. ask your employer for assistance to arrange something temporary beforehand so you have a place for your first few weeks.

once you are settled in, you can ask a local friend to find something long-term.

DON'T be suckered into getting an agent directly from your home country.

some of the other guy's on this forum can give you reliable web-sites to look at

Do not ever trust an agent without being on site, next to the agent. It's common practice to ask for something at a given price, and get something only very vaguely related at a higher price. Sorrel advice is very sensible. You have been warned Wink

They all charge you like 50-100 RMB to even go and look at the apartment. And that's every damn apartment.

Every city in Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, etc? They refused to even let me look at the house without paying them. All these shady real estate companies. So nasty.

So which realtor in Hefei can you recommend?

Somone with some English or foreigner experience might be good.

Hi,

thanks for all your answers. That's exactly why I am asking for recommendations. I will spend a week in Hefei end of September, to get some orientation and look at some flats. So it would be really useful to know some good realtors with some English language skills. Anyone knows somone like that?

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer.
