A better question is how many hours of your life were you gaming and was there something more productive you could have done that you regret not doing. No regrets, play all day.

medium boring for sure.  I play maybe one hour on my ipad in evening, but luckily I'm not the generation addicted to them.

I much prefer the physical interaction of a pinball machine!

Playing video games is a waste of time. It’s one of the most unproductive things you can do.... other than commenting on here.

Stiggs:

Yeah it's unproductive but that's what downtime is for.

Some people watch mindless reality TV, some people read trashy novels, some people arse around on online forums and some people blow way zombies or terrorists on their consol.

To each their own I say, who wants to be productive all the time?

I know all too well about this. I guess it depends on the type of games you play. During most of 20s my life consisted of working and coming home and playing world of Warcraft until I went to bed . Rnise and repeat for 5 years. My social life suffered my health suffered there was nothing good that came out it. And when I was not playing that I was playing COD or Starcraft or something. I was just hooked on them. Just waiting for the next flashing lights to get that dopamine hit.  I always made the excuse I had nothing better to do. So I would just do that. It almost lead to depression.

Then one day I said fuck it. I stopped playing for about 2 years. Never touch a video game or mobile anything. I started walking then I joined a gym and got back into shape started doing social things again I had the motivation to look for a better job And found my life was getting better day by day. Now fast forward to today and I will play some games from time to time. A few times a week I’ll play overwatchfor an hour or so but that’s all I want to play.

Niw of of course not everyone was like how I was..... but a lot are expecially kids. And especially online games are highly addictive, they make them never ending. So people spend more and more time playing. Anything in moderation is ok,There is down time to watch movies and play games ect but it can lead to taking up all of your free time.

I know i took it to the extreme, but lots of people are just like me. Not only is a waste of time , it also a detriment to your wellbeing. I know I was fucked. I just got into the wrong game . And it lead to years of my life wasted. It makes me sad even thinking about it.

Lots of people people don’t have this problem at all, but lots of people do. Candy crush and games like that are the same . They are designed to be addictive. I’m sure your not like this, but damn just look at the kids coming up now. Most don’t even leave the house. So in my personal opinion there is always something better to do then play games. And they are a huge waste of time with  absolutely nothing to show for the time wasted. Unless your one of the few who gets paid to play games. And then your still in the same boat... you just have money lol.

I get what you’re saying. You don’t have to be productive all the time. To me video games now a days are just one step up from hard drugs. Just because I have down time don’t mean I have to start smoking crack lol. My opinion is there are better unproductive things to do then that. Ike I’m a big movie fan . I’ll watch a movie maybe every other day. But that’s only for 1.5 or 2 hours. Now games I can spend 16 hours in one sitting playing. Both are unproductive but one is worse... at least to me.

Stiggs:

Yeah that's a valid point.

It's definitely not a healthy past time, especially if you take it to extremes, and the games are very addictive.

I'm probably lucky in that I'm old enough that when when I was a teenager you had to go to an arcade and pump coins into machines to play video games. I did a LOT of that but I had to work to get the money and ride my bike there and back, and staying up all night playing wasn't an option so it never impacted my life too badly. I discovered surfing and dirt bikes too which kept me away from the video arcade. Adrenaline is better than dopamine.

If I was the same kid now though with the awesome games and systems available, I'd probably be a fat, useless pale thing living in my bedroom, scared of the sunlight.

I don't like games except it's a mind game that you are playing with another human being. That is damn exciting.

Gaming is addictive, but I also feel it gave me happiness. I miss gaming. But since addictions always give you a high with lots of chronic addiction side-effects, it's hard to say if there's any merit to gaming.

When I last played games, I was into Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis 4. You learn a lot about history from it. The power struggles, the inheritance and succession laws that affect dynasties, the way trade opportunities drove colonialism, the dynamics of wars, alliances and diplomacy in general.

Most of all, it's an escape from the everyday drudgery of our day-to-day, petty lives. For that, it can be considered a source of stress-relief, an outlet for imagination and creativity, and an expression of personal freedom. But if its allure is too great, and you indulge too much, it will cause collateral damage in your real life.

Immersive strategy games are a class apart from FPS and console games like Counterstrike, Farmville, Bejeweled, Plants vs. Zombies, Angry Birds or whatever light fluff many extroverted sensors turn to. You can play one of those games and be finished after an hour. CK2 or EU4 take significant time investments, and an hour is just enough to catch up where you left off last time, and get warmed up. Most grand strategy gaming sessions last well into the night.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
