Q: Happy hours in Qingdao?

Visiting Qingdao for a couple of days towards the end of this month. Where's the cheap drinking at? Also, has anyone been to the vineyard there? Thanks!

Yeah I went to a vineyard there a couple of years ago.  Closed.  No one on site.

The only cheap drinking is in a restaurant or in the park.  But cheap is relevant.

There was a Japanese joint across from Kiwi Cafe that sold Asahi for 8 kuai, but it's closed now.

Eorthisio, you are right on both counts.  But they are the best on offer in China.

Eorthisio:

You can buy German, Belgian or Japanese beer at most shops importing foreign groceries, many upper end bars also offer imported beverage, let's not forget Metro supermarket and its hundred of different types of German and Belgian beers.

Oh yeah right....just give it to me right between the eyes!  Bastard.  And you've got a Metro!  Fuk.  Bastard.

In fact, I can get German beer from one of the supermarkets in my town.  And Danish beer too, once.

Fuk....why don't I go to that place more often???  Dickhead.  Anyhow, as we speak, I give you cheers with my Wusu brew.  It's ok, on a par with QD, I reckon.

I heard that Qingdao brewed in Qingdao (which is served in bags fresh out of the tap) is better than the piss available elsewhere. Is this true?

royceH:

Yes.  And no.  The fresh beer pulled out of the kegs must be finished within 24 hrs of tapping it or it  turns to poison.  Flat, hot poison.  The trick is to find a place that turns over enough of it to not have to worry about emptying a keg within 24 hrs.

The plastic bag joints are in the Old Town.  Have a bag of beer (you drink it through a straw!) with a handful of spicy skewers on the street somewhere at least once before you die.

Good luck.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
