Q: Has anybody worked for Yeats English Education in Xuzhou?

Somewhere in January this year I found a nice ad on facebook. The school was obviously just starting. Yeats English Educational i a small city of Xuzhou, probably some private family business. As they claimed. "Foreign teachers dont need to prepare for classes, apartment provided nearby, non natives welcome. 40 hours of teaching a month with a salary of 10000. Flight ticket reimbursement after 12 months." Some 40 hours!!!!! of teaching a month!!!! 10 000 for nothing. Just too good to be true. They never replied. Neither email nor a direct comment on facebook. Just wondering if it was a real school or just some scam. Has someone been lucky getting those super conditions???

XUZHOU YEATS - eslteachersboard.com

So, that was my experience with XUZHOU YEATS ENGLISH EDUCATION with bosses using English names Daniel and Smile. Please, for your own sake: avoid these wankers!

Haha, I was just in contact with Yeats a while ago.

I spoke with Smile (wechat: xiaoying_1989, e-mail: smilechenxi@hotmail.com). She seemed nice (at least at first), however some things about them seemed to be off from the very beginning:

Their ad was fairly recent, so I assumed they were still looking for teachers for their own school (Yeats English). They weren't.

Instead, Smile tried to introduce me to another school. They seemed interested, but after the interview, they apparently suggested that I come on a tourist visa and get a work visa later on.

I've come across such "suggestions" before. What if I couldn't get a Z visa in Hong Kong? I could get stuck in HK and have to go back home with nothing.

Now that I think about it, I don't know whether it was the interviewing school or Smile herself who came up with this bright idea.

She later scheduled a whole bunch of interviews that seemed a little random and I was starting to feel that she was simply trying to sell me to whoever paid her the highest commission.

When I decided tell her my worries, so Smile blocked me on wechat Smile

I have come across Andy’s story above when I googled Yeats as I was talking to Smile. I didn't mention it to her - initially, it seemed a little far-fetched. After she deleted me, it didn't strike me as far-fetched any longer.

Anyways, experience in China has taught me that if it doesn't feel right, it's better to err on the side of caution. Best of luck to everyone.

Hi, everyone. A am Andy from Slovakia. As I said in the shared link from eslteachersboard, I worked at Yeats from March 2017 to December 2017. I did not follow the employer on facebook when at Yeats, so I had no idea they were looking for my replacement. They were putting ads between August and November. I do not remember what they mentioned in their ads. I do not think they put 40 hours a month of working to the ad. But actually, that was what they wanted. I really worked about 40 hours a month, of real teaching (clapping, showing flashcards, jumping) plus some hours (plusminus 15) of showing the face (promotion of the school in front of kindergartens, staying outside the school waving with baloons). The job was really horrible, in terms of temperature. During the summer and winter. Plus 40 or plus 7 centigrades indoors. That s why I thought I was unexpendable: „Noone else can stand such conditions.“ I got 9000 rmb a month minus some deductions (water, gas, power, wifi) As Ondrejko said, when I met Daniel (Wechat: xiaoyang19870112) and Smile (Wechat: xiaoying_1989), they told me: „No need to prepare anything. We will provide elaborated teaching plan. You just follow. Of course, after 12 months, you will get 5000 rmb as a flight ticket allowance.“ It seemed very easy, too good to pass up. The bosses promised me nice prospects: „Later you will be a manager. We plan to recruit foreigners for kindergartens in the city. You speak Russian and Spanish. That might seem trustworthy to those teachers. You will handle that.“ But later they may have found out, it was not so easy and they did not need such a person. That may have been when they started looking for my replacement. Some temporary native speaker, probably. As far as I know, the school keep changing teachers. Probably they can not make visa for non-natives and the conditions are too bad to keep natives. So at the time Ondrejko found that ad, I had been kicked out already. I hope no foreigner will buy their promises anymore. They might change their names. So called „English name“ is not a thing registered somewhere, not big deal to change. A Chinese person called „Daniel“ can become „Paul, Richard, or even Vladimir, or eveneven Reebok or Tequila. They can change the name of the school. „Yeats“ might become „Bear no Fear“ or „Dolphin and Muffin“ But they probably will not change their real names (吴洋洋, 王小影) and the city.

So onceagain, hoping no foreign face will/would sign for them. If there is anybody right now teaching at Yeats, reading these lines, just be carefulll. Do not buy a gym card for two years, motorbike.

I miss my delete button. Sigh.

It's nice of you guys to share your experiences regarding your former or current schools so the rest of us will not fall into their hands . There are lots of schools looking for foreign teachers anywaysmiley

Andy333:

The thing is, clapping schools in China are not reliable. But they are the best a non-native pretender can reach. A non-native teacher can be kicked out anytime. Sometimes there is a good reason, sometimes a bad reason. Sometimes just no reason. Chinese parents are willing to pay huge money for their little emperors clapping beside a foreign face. Any idiot can start a school hiring a foreign clapper. But he knows nothing about education, no idea how to run a school. He just knows: clapping means money. Bytheway, Yeats English Education has been my best school so far.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is 'Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by 1. Finding an employer; 2. Employer applies for an Invitation letter; 3. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
