I've been asked to complete an online assessment (something to do with safea) to prove my qualifications as a foreign teacher. Is this something new? I've not been asked to do it in the past five years.

Yeah, loads of psychological questions, and you get score in the end. But, it's not bogus. It's accessible online, I think. I had to fill it up over Tianjin SAFEA's building computer. I wasn't ever asked to complete it again.

Just come to Dongbei, where nobody needs qualification...well you do if you want a good job, but still plenty of people working for 6k a month up here.
Yes it is required for all new teachers in the company I work at. That is in Tianjin too. Not sure about outside of Tianjin but I am sure there are some other cities using it. I don't think you can fail it unless you are some kind of nut job.
