Q: Have you hooked up with another foreigner from a different country than you in China before?

I have a girlfriend from UK and I am American. We met at a school in Shandong province and moved to Shanghai together. We have been together for 2 and a half years, live together and are pretty happy with our situation though we do wonder a lot about the future. I am just generally wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and what struggles you faced or if you managed to make it work in one of your countries, or in China?

I had GF from UK too. Once!

I had to change all faucets in the house, because Brits faucets have 'hot' on L, and 'cold' on R side. Big expense.

Nessquick:

we have that back home too, if I remember right. confused now...

She was keep complaining, why there wasn't any hot water when in the shower, because she always opened cold water knob on R.....I couldn't do much about traffic. She always looked for the up-coming car from the wrong side of the street.

In every major Western city I walked in, I saw plenty of mixed couples. Even more so in university campuses. It's highly likely Wink

It's cool to hang-out with UK girls, but be prepared, cuz they do speak funny !

... not to mention they don't know which side of the road to drive on !

And, btw, why exactly it took you so long time to find out this expat forum and ask about similar exprience ? shhh. it is so strange to meet another foreigner in another country, isn't it ? OMG. now you go back home to mama and ask for new nickname and try again.

Only you and your gf know if it will work. As you are asking this question here I can pretty much deduce that it is not working out between you. You just have to be realistic and talk to each other. There are no answers here for relationship issues.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
