Q: How and where can I get translated documents notarized?
I'm helping my Chinese friend prepare a visa application to Ireland and not quite sure how to go about the translated documents. I've personally translated his housing contract into English, but now I have to get it notarized? Where can I get this done in Beijing and how much does it cost? If anyone has any advice in general or experience helping Chinese with their visa app, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Apparantly a number of consulates in Beijing offer these services. I've heard that the US consulate does but you should call and check first.
You could also try the Beijing Notary Public Office:

Some translation companies may also offer this service. Try China Translation and Publication Corp, 6F Wuhua Complex, A4 Chegongzhuang Dajie, Te: 6800 2558
These companies are really expensive though and you may be asked to pay 1000 kuai per page. You should double check to make sure that notarization is really necessary, as I'm sure some embassies don't require this.
