Q: How are tomboys viewed in China?

I think when it comes to women, the girly, cutsie, skinny, frail image prevails.  But I've also seen the exact opposite (i.e. Li Yuchun).  But how are tomboys and strong women viewed here?

People of grandparent generation don't understand the "new trend" tomboys, some girls nowadays are bold and expressive of themselves, they dress according to their characters, which is a sigh of liberation from the old tradition constraint. In the old days, women were forced to wrap their feet to limit the sizes, a woman with a favorable size of feet were considered beauty, women were considered beauty to be obedient, too. Chinese women have been repressed for too long. Now it is new era and time to be free to express themselves. New generations know little about the old tradition, so they are totally free to any direction as they like, if they like to be as handsome and cool as a man, then let it be, if they like to be cute and elegantly feminine and gentle, then be it, no much criticizing about that as long as they stay true to who they are and be responsible for their behavior...
