Use about 3 times more water than you do for making rice, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 30 minutes, enjoy! Smile

It goes by several names, Porridge, Jook, Gruel, rice soup, etc... There are many types of it, the base is usually made of grains. The making of it is considered an art by some, there was even a prince of China, who dedicated his life to studying and making it and he wrote a book about it.

There are five man grains which are used, rice, millet, sorghum, wheat and Chinese pearled barley. You can also use beans, veggies, meats, eggs and even herbs can be added. Typically for every cup of porridge mix, you add 8 to 15 times the water. You can cook it overnight using a crook pot, I use a high pressure cooker for it's quickness, because I make it every morning...

I boil the rice in milk, don't over boil the milk, it can burn, let it simmer for another 30 minutes, add sugar, simmer some more.
Place in container. Put in fridge and let it cool.
When you eat it as a dessert you can add jam or for a special treat add cocoa powder - mix in.
Sweeeeeeet congee!!! Tongue

I know you asked for the help of ladies but is it okay if I just like ladies and answer anyway?
