Q: How long is it possible to keep bouncing to and from Hong Kong getting tourist visas?

We all know the deal. Pop across and get a new tourist visa. There MUST be a limit to this though. At what point do The Powers decide this has gone on too long and refuse a fresh visa? What's the longest any of you have stayed in China employing this well-worn trick?

The answer to this question depends on your age, sex, home country and political relations.

I have known some people who have done it for 5+ years.  I know others that only got away with it twice in a row.  Unfortunately, with constantly changing laws and political affinities, there is no way to give a solid answer on this.  Each time is a gamble.

Thanks, John. That was the answer I expected, but also didn't wish to hear! They don't make life easy, do they?
