I still don't get governments promoting population increases. Japan is fine with 30 million less folks over the last 30 years.
Russia, everybody thinks its a powerful country despite the population falling in half, having a gdp below Canada and paying people to have kids and the women would rather work as prostitutes around the world than put up with a Russian drunk wife beater.
America seems to think open borders and more welfare, more infrastructure and more poverty is a great thing.
Europe thinks immigrants are needed for future labor shortages despite robots and automation.
Is it power, taxes, controlling people, Why do these idiots want more people born? New taxpayers for supporting social safety nets, assuming they can get a job. Maybe inflating wages so you pay people off with worthless currency would work better.
Aside from all of this, the left crusaders that say the population is too high for the earth and we need control human reproduction due to scarcity of resources, food, water, etc.
This whole thing reeks of hypocrisy, but I never read an article calling out this crazy dichotomy.

I don’t know about other countries, but China has a serious demographic problem looming.
1:2:4. If you don’t know what that means...
Stiggs:
I think it's 1 child, 2 parents and with the in-laws you now have 4.
So the only child needs to provide for four older family members which can't be an easy thing to do. Back in the day you'd have about five brothers all working on their farms to share the load. Then came the single child policy.
Never heard of that outside of China but I've heard a lot about aging societies, where there are going to be a lot of elderly people and not enough people working and paying tax.

makes good sense. Population fluctation/reduction was never meant to be painless. We can't support 7+billion and as they die off it will be an ugly sight.
Remember how the Eskimoes dealt with it- no hand-wringing, excuse searching, or giant calculations looking into the next eon. They just said,,, "the tribe cannot support you; you cannot provide for the tribe. See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.
Seemed like a lot of that in the ancient World, but now we seek the 'humane' solution.
I know! Let's work Han to death at some soul-sucking job so he can support his wife, child, in-laws! After all he loves coming home in the evening to enjoy the serenade of their insults. Han, why you no successful? You just worker, man owns business! Han, why you drive VW, BMW is car for man!
vascectomy zoning, what a riot?
