Q: how many tourist visa extentions can i get?

Hi so my situation is came to China on a 2 month tourist visa, had two 1 month extensions in China, then i went to Hong Kong for a 1 month but left early from China and back in Hong Kong. So now i want to get another tourist visa so i can go back and then study Chinese for a semester or so, i am just worried as a mate said when he was in Hong Kong he saw someone get refused a tourist visa as it was his 3 rd extension in Hong kong is that true? Though it would only be may 2 nd straight.

Why continue seeking tourist visas in Hong Kong if you know they will only give you 30 days stay ?. Why not register at a school, get a lteer of admission from them, and then request a student visa ( X visa) ?. That one will give you up to one year stay.

Hong Kong Chinese Embassy is a bit unpredictable. Will say yes to one, and to the next with an identical situation will say you must go back home and get visa there.

Or why don't you request a tourist visa with at least two entries and 60 days each ? They may go for that?

Or why go to Hong Kong for an extension, if you can get one at the local PSB where you reside good for another 30 days (only one do)?.

Actually, it is not two as you claim, but three extensions for a total of 90 days in 30 days increments. At the end of those 90 days, you must leave the country. Some PSB's require extra documentation, like a letter explaining your reason for the extension., proof of solvency (sufficient funds in China to live the extra days requested, etc).

Also, for your information on your student visa:

Student (X/F Visa)
Along with the visa application, you must provide an approved JW201 or JW202 (Foreign Student Visa Application Form) issued by the State Education Ministry of China, and an enrollment letter from the receiving university. An F visa will be issued for those who study for less than 6 months, and X visa for those who study in China for longer than 6 months

Only single entry study visas are available. Once you arrive in China on a study visa, you must get your residence permit from PSB.

i was told it was 2, maybe differs from province? On the other 2 extentions i had to show the 20,000 funds..

On the student visa how long do you think it takes to get it as being a autonomous region i can transfer from a tourist visa to student. Just worried that have my brother coming over from the U.K to Bejing next month so will need to travel to meet him and dont want it caught up with the PSB.

Thanks for your advise seeing from most your answers in posts seems like you have been there and done it and have alot of expereince in China lol
