$1,000,000 per month.

anything less is slumming it.

PulSartre:

I used to make that amount monthly, a while ago. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Today, just one USD less. Sniff, sniff, exactly what I need to pay for my new Ferrari.

That depends on lots of things.

What city you're living in.

If you're paying for accommodation or if it's provided for you.

Your lifestyle and what you do in your spare time.

If you cook at home or eat in restaurants every night, imported food or local food..

If you walk / bus to get around or take taxis.

What you consider to be comfortable.

to be honest, if you re single, no housing loan car loan n kids education, then 10,000 per month is fair enough. but if you have those things to deal with, at least 3-4 times more than 10,000 to be a comfortable status.

Well said. Parents end up paying 4k to 10k ( even more depending on the school)per month for education in China. Mortgage payments can be 6k every month for 30 years If you buy a property that costs 1 million rmb. So based on how many kids you have and what kind of apartment you bought in China and how much you make will determine whether you will have a comfortable life in China or not.

Just get loans and credit cards that you will never pay back like everyone else and everyone will think you are rich because that is the most important thing in this culture. And calling you out for it or demanding repayments would make everyone concerned lose face. And we can't have that now, can we?

Sandnose:

You could always simply move to a more civilised part of China in the south such as the Pearl River Delta or another country to avoid the uncivilised attitudes. Or stay where you are and accept it as your life.

Ha true..but I was living in Shanghai just came back home to avoid renting for supporting my startup on the end of 2018. I would have been buying my ticket to Norway if the coronavirus does not outbreak unexpectly.

My Chinese girlfriend makes me save. Saving is boring, but hey, if you are single you could live comfortably on 12k a month easy.
