Recently my wife's bag was stolen whilst traveling and it had both our marriage registration books in it.
Does anybody know how to get a replacement, we are registered in Wuhan as she is from Hubei but live in Dongguan. Would we need to travel there to get new ones? could one person go or do we need to travel together?
Hope somebody can shed some light on the matter.
Thanks

I've done this before after i got mine wet during a typhoon, you must go back to the office of where the marriage took place, most likely in your wifes home town.Y20 RMB

I know that here both people need to go. But the people at our local marriage office also have zero flexibility/humor.
A phone call must be able to make that clear. I would also think you need to know if you can reuse prints of the original photo's or you need to have new photos made. I know for sure that both people need to be present when making new photos.

Yes, I had to bring my wife and her Hukou and other marriage book too. passport as well and had to fill out a form of lost Marriage book.
alternate solution, if you haven't registered your marriage in your home country, get another proof of singleness, marry a new wife.

there might be some downside to the idea that I haven't though of

Ive seen that done between Hong Kong and China, many guys live two marriage lives.
Its a good time to bail out if you've been thinking about it.
