Q: I need your advice about my visa

Hello everybody! I'm teaching at school. Soon my contract will be completed and I plan to go to a different province to take my chances here. I have a residence permit (which means I have a z-visa?not sure here, and, of course, chinese staff at school can't explain to me). What they suggest is when I finish here I will go to a different province under the same residence permit and visa (because it takes so much effort for them to cancel it and to give me another type of visa) So they let me use this one while I'm travelling. But if I find a job in a new province I'll just contact them and they will provide me with all the necessary documents(like reference letter, release letter and all that i will need for a new residence permit and visa). But I need your advice. Is it really worth doing? Will it be easy for me then to get the documents and to change my visa? Can they do it without my presence?

sounds to me like you are being conned into believing they will actually do the follow up paperwork.

you asked here it is, do not leave one job before you find another job. do not leave a company without getting the appropriate docs in your hand. (i'm not saying they are lieing to you, but i would not risk it. )

use the net  find a job in the city where you want to work. china is not the usa , the visa laws are strictly enforced and you do not want to risk running afoul of them.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
