Q: If you don't like to KTV, eat and drink excessively, or make "guanxi", what is there left do do?
Putting this another way, do you have many Chinese friends that don't expect anything from you in return?

Yeah I agree with Rin on that. I don't do KTV AT ALL, I don't do guanxi and I don't eat or drink excessively....well......don't drink excessively often I might say.
There is a shit load of other stuff to do in Daqing and this is 4th tier? Not sure.

other things to do:
badminton, gym, other sports, pool billiard, swimming, dancing whatever you like. its not like there are much less things you can do than at home, its just "different"
i only have 1 chinese friend tho but i can do all the things with my gf so i dont really care
If you live in a small third tier city.... then pretty much nothing else to do. Better get used to it, or move to a bigger city with more of an expat community. Theres tons of stuff to do here in Kunming.We regulary have bike rides out to surrounding scenic spots, trivia night, poetry night, latin dance night, anime night, movie night, chess tournaments.. etc etc

The bike rides are free to join if you have a bike.. all the 'nights' are only expensive if you drink a lot of alcohol.

Chinese students....go to school, do homework, eat, go back to school, do homework, eat, keep doing homework, sleep for a brief period of time, go back to school....
