Q: Is it easy to import used cars from Japan

Japan doesn't drive thier cars to high mileage, I heard only 25,000kms, I know I can buy used engines with low kms here and pretty cheap, I've seen little trucks available for import. Has anyone looked into how to import a used car from Japan?

I actually wanted ot bring my Mercedes with me and checked all the different restrictions or formalities. It appears that it's easier to import a model that is (or has been) sold in China and that is less than ten years old. In my case, a 20 years old Mercedes 250D was almost impossible to import without a few bribes.

In any case, be expected to pay an import tax that is so prohibitive that it will efficiently make you change your decision (or regret it if you already bought the car)

And remember that Japanese cars are right-hand drive...
