Q: Job at Beijing Royal School - Need info

Hi All

I will be working at Beijing Royal School, I would like to know where is best place to live near school as I heard faculty accommodation is very ordinary?

What is there to do in the area near the school - bars / food / markets / shopping?

Are there any close by suburbs, near or on the water?

Appreciate any information about area anyone wants to share.

Thanks

I don't know anything about the school or area so can't help you, but my advice is to contact the foreign teachers there and ask them. The school should be ok with providing their email addresses.

In fact, for future reference, it's always a good idea to talk to the people already working there before accepting the job. If the school has management issues, doesn't pay people on time, doesn't honor the contract, lied about their licence to hire foreign teachers etc..  the FTs will be the ones who tell you, not the people trying to recruit you.

Some School's review on the link, and 'drop-me-an-email' invitation from the ex-teacher there.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
