I've lived in Shanghai for a while, comfortably, and was wondering if any of you having lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan or Singapore find that the quality of life is similar to that of the largest Chinese cities?
It's not the same quality. Hong Kong has a better atmosphere in my opinion with cleaner air and it's less crowded. I've been to some of the bigger cities. Hong Kong has better quality a plus would be that you can visit Maccau and gamble and you can visit the 200 or so islands that they have.
In my opinion, Hong Kong is not really China and I prefer HK to Shanghai or Beijing. HK is cleaner, nicer and people are more laid back and you can pretty much always spot mainlanders in a crowd.
Oh, and I love Singapore, it's more like "Asia for beginners".
