Q: New translation device

so they are building a better mouse trap huh

headset that fits into the ear and translates conversations in real time.

Named Pilot, the device uses "translation technology" embedded in an app.

Waverly Labs founder Andrew Ochoa says he got the idea "after meeting a French girl".

"It's the dream, you know?" he said.

"A life untethered, free of language barriers. It's just that it's no longer a dream anymore."

The New York City-based company plans to support European-based Romance and Germanic languages first.

Slavic, Semitic, Hindi and East Asian languages are on the horizon.

Waverly Labs has launched a crowdfunding campaign to make the Pilot available for sale next year,
now if they could make one to traslate what a woman says or means they would have a winner

Wonder is they were ever fans of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

Been waiting years for someone to create a real Babelfish!

Also wonder if Janosik will buy one?

It does sound a lot like a Babelfish, or a universal translator from Star Trek. It would definitely be useful.

I thought the missus was your translation device

But a great idea nevertheless!

dom87:

they only translate what they think is correct with their interpretation.

If you can understand a bit chinese you will know that you should not rely on chinese translations, even if its your wife

A:I had a similar experience in HK. If I recall correctly, before or at the Z visa application, I had to submit ME from the ordinary HK clinic, where I explained why I need ME and I asked them to examine only necessary things (I don't remember the cost ...), and then ... I got Z stamp and when back in China, I had to complete another RP ME, which was on the employer, i.e. included in the Contract ...We've never discussed refund of payment for HK ME with my employer. Year 2013 ...I'd say, that is a regular thingy embassies around the world require, before issuing visas for LT stay in the country. "Vladimir Vladimiro-Witch ras-Putin" (LOL@your pronunciation ..) demands the same thingy before granting LT stay in Ruski.  ... Haa, 2013 was the Snowden's year. I was in Kowloon at the time of his landing .. with all these files ... I'm-Still-in-LMAO-State ... Cost for the ME in HK was around HK$ 2000/200 EUR, and ME was kind of swift, quicker and way shorter than on the mainland ... -- icnif77
