Q: One of my office staff (Chinese) got attacked by a drunk guy.

This guy broke his wrist. Asked him why he didn't kick him in his balls, punched him with his other hand - he was surprised. If this happened to me, the guy (regardless nationality) would be in the hospital for at least six months - don't even try to touch me - show respect - I do. What would you do?

Good way of ending up in jail and have a nice criminal record on you too. You act like a highschool kid that likes to get into fights that doesn't care about getting expelled from school!

At 99Silva - just for your info. I'm European, have a university degree and work as the CFO for an international company. People like you are just fucking idiots - I asked a question. I know, they would beat you up and you would ask for more - you sound like a typical knucklehead from southern Europe - big mouths, scolding but balls like ants. But, actually I think you're not even a real man ...

Traveler:

He's not really a foreigner, he just pretends to be. He's Chinese, so you have to make allowances for his anti-foreigner sentiment. He's been brainwashed that way.

He's been banned before, but felt compelled to come back and carry on the "work" he sees as vital. Sad really.

Now now you two, get your panties untangled. I would personally assault my assailant with sarcastic, passive aggressive comments. Oh, but I'm sure you two would fare so much better.

Smart people would actually not use physical force, swear words, ethnicity profiling, or act like a bully. They would instead know how to use their brain.
A paper or a job position are in no way indicative of whether people are idiots or smart.

The rules are different for foreigners than locals.  It rarely is a one-on-one battle.  The local will play the nationality card and you will find yourself swamped in just a few seconds.

And if, you should be so "lucky" as to manage a one-on-one, it won't matter who started it, you will be at fault.  I just read the story of a New Zeland guy who spent 5 years in a Dongguan prison for landing a death blow on one of the 7 guys attacking him.  He got 5 years and had to pay over 300k RMB in restitution even though there were witnesses that testified he was just defending himself.

Why don't locals fight back?  Mostly because they are scared of what will happen if they win.  The other person will use their guanxi to strike back at them, or hire thugs to beat up their family or other nasty cowardly acts.

Sometimes, as they say, discretion is the better part of valor.

are you trying to say he was attacked by a foreigner? ifso i call bs on your story. chinese are programmed to think all foreigners are wealthy. so if a foreigner farted in his direction he would call the police and they would have forced the foreigner to pay through the nose. plus a foreigner can't kick a trash can in china w/o it ending up on chinasmack. look at the 6 guys who were on a long distance bus and the driver made them "go" on the highway.

local drunks start fights all the time. the police don't care. "no crime in china, china is safe"

Hi guys, my question was perhaps not clear enough - sorry. The guy who was beaten up was Chinese and the guy who beat him up was also Chinese (and drunk). What I understood is, that nothing happened to the drunk guy.

@ Justin - you're not completely right on your sentence in my eyes:A paper or a job position are in no way indicative of whether people are idiots or smart.

Well having a university degree means that you can remember a lot because you passed examinations - doesn't mean intelligent but what would you call it?

Normally people who are in good positions and I know lot of foreigners here in China who have that (to be honest I don't even know 1 teacher after nearly 2 years) don't get into fights - reason - they will try  to talk first. That is what I do - last fight I had is nearly 30 years ago (I'm above 50 now) but it was K.O. in second 1. 1 hit - 1 K.O. Ever since I didn't fight. Because I hate to fight - but I'll protect myself (practiced martial arts for roughly 12 years Smile)))

So, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Have a great weekend and watch your 'eggs' Smile))
