Q: Permission to work on a student visa?

Anyone managed to obtain this? I went to my local PSB and asked, they didn't know what I was talking about.

The PSB's haven't been given information on the procedures and rules for part time work.  I have a friend who works in the PSB, and they have no information about the new part time rules as we do.  This is something they drafted to the new visa rules at the last minute, so they still haven't worked out the details, it seems.

Rin:

Please let me know if your PSB friend hears anything.

You probably need to find a copy of the new laws in Chinese, and then take it to them for approval.

If you find out any more information, let us know. The new laws allow for it, but remember it's not worth risking anything. Be careful...

The only way you can work on a student visa is by getting an internship related to your field of studies from the school you attend.  No other type of work will be allowed legally.,

Rin:

Well that sucks. My hopes are dashed. :/

I dunno, Happy. I was allowed to work legally as an English teacher with the permission of two PSB's on an X visa. I got permission from the school + 2 different PSBs before I did that.

Maybe my case was unique, or guanxi was involved. I don't know why. And haven't the recent laws allowed for part-time, non-internship jobs?

Ask your school. Normally, at the time of taking your passport to send to the psb for your visa, they would have written a note saying that they give you permission to work.
