Q: Showering in China...

Ok, this is one of those topics that people are uncomfortable with.  How often do you guys shower?  Do you think a person should everyday?  I'd like to hear the female opinion on this, but not sure any females are on this site. I know Viki used to be,,,,  Anyway, I used to shower just about everyday if I remember correctly.  Lately I feel it involves facilities and climate.  My shower sucks in my broken-down bathroom, and it's cold up here in north China.   But sometimes I worry that I maybe should shower more often.  Tough question,,,,  any thoughts?

First, Viki is spurious, pretentiously looking like account ... butT.. there is native English poster behind it, for which postings he receives pay! Fuk him! Twice, you Scottish phony ...

I shower daily once at least. Always as a wake-up in the mornings, when I am in the colder climates (Harbin, Moscow) and when I am in the warmer areas (Istanbul's weather is like HK), I have to do it in the evenings, too.

When I have steady GF, I always shower twice a day at least, doesn't matter the climate  or length of me fur ...

I hate to be so personal...

There are people on ECC who have talked about  knowing Vicki personally or who have / had her as a wechat contact.

I'm pretty sure she is who she says she is.

I was one of those who were friends with Viki. She is real and who she says she is.  Too bad rarely hear from her anymore.  I sure hope things work out for her.

Yep. She's real. She's Chinese and she's female which adds to the forum IMO and she was a regular poster here who initiated a lot of discussion and views until all of her posts started being deleted for no reason at all.

Way to make a forum boring as fuck ECC.

Any 'anon account' on this website can be fake, i.e. used by two or more users.

One person, which you know from the real life starts/opens the account and then another person is using the same handle and write pretentious posts looking like they originate from Chinese girl, which you know from the the big-ass-real-life.

That is what I meant by 'fake'!

Have a look at the last 'I am in Bruxelles!' thread.

Do you think, poster is texting from Belgium and if so, I want to know, what convinced you, poster is not posting from anywhere else in the world, i.e. China.

Maybe you're right , I don't know - and I'll thow your question back at you here, what convinced you she's what you think she is?

But if you are right, who cares. She wouldn't be the first here who isn't all they claim to be.

I just don't think she's done anything to justify deleting everything she posts.

How do you know what does she post, if everything gets deleted?

I've heard that showering too frequently can be bad for the skin, it washes away your natural oils or something.

A lot of Chinese people who don't even have a shower in their bathrooms use a bowl of water everyday to wash and go to a bath house once a week for a proper shower. They don't seem to have any noticable hygeine problems.

Don't think there's any real rule to it, just shower as needed. If you notice flys landing on you a lot more or people changing seats to get away from you then you should probably increase the frequency.

diverdude1:

haha,, yeah, flies are a sound indicator.  I shave everyday and wash up like the chinese too.

When I was in china I sometimes had days at a time with no running water for various reasons. The bowl and sponge cleaning method works.

And yep, always trust the flies dude.

I remember a week in Hunan Stiggs. Water was on for 2 hours a day. I never felt the bucket wash cleaned me. What with my hairy arse and spicy Hunan food :-(

If I am in a hurry, I take care the bushy areas with deodorant soap and rinse off and head to the heater to dress. Also, all the health articles about toxins and junk in the water that can penetrate your skin and god knows what is in the water in china, my showers are always fast and quick.

Down here in GZ, I live in a place surrounded by coal chimneys. I feel grimy unless I have a shower. I was out this afternoon, home, wahed face. The grime was imprinted in the towel. I take my chances with the potentially parasite infested cadmium sulfuric acid laced substance that passes as water here to clean the muck off.

I even make tea with it. The wife insists the cooler bottle water is fake. She wont have one in the house.

Such is life in China Shock

diverdude1:

I boil my pasta in tap, brush teeth with it, shower in it,,, but other than that it's bottled.  Sometimes I think about how much dinero I must've spent on bottled agua over the years.  Bet that would finance my dream trip thru Xinjiang.

I use a hot water cooker by Midea about 190 rmb online to buy one, when I boil water in it from the tap, the stainless steel walls of the cooker develop a yellow film that I have to clean off with white vinegar, but the bottled filtered water never causes any stains or film on the liner of the cooker. As for buying bottled water, the coca cola brand of water sells here for 10 rmb for 24 bottles, 550 ml.

Last week, after doing an aquarium water change I noticed an oily film on the surface. I have a mate coming over soon who is a water expert. Going to ask him to bring a water quality kit.

I'll shower once at night if I go out during the day. If I stay home on the weekend then I won't. Chinese can get away with not showering as often because of their sweat gland mutation, but once their stink builds up they smell like death.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
