Q: Is soy milk safe, here?
I know the milk here is of a terrible standard and quite possibly dangerous, but I need coffee, and my coffee needs milk, so there's no avoiding it.
I've been considering attempting to develop a taste for soy milk, in the hope it's a healthier alternative... but are there and health standard issues with the soy milk?

Nothing bads been said about soy milk at the moment but who knows. One week its dont eat oranges, the next its milk, or oil or bread. As far as I know soy milk is ok at present but dont blame me if they suddenly announce one brand had rat poison in all along.
At present time, there are no comments about adultering soy milk sold as milk. But sinced in China I do not trust even my shadow (and in many other places too), what I do is to buy soy beans, and one of those machines to make soy milk with. Since beans must be soaked in water for 8 hours prior to extracting the milk in the machine, I am sure they are relatively free of contaminants, and that is the soy milk I drink.
Maybe investing on a soy milk producing machine is more that what you were looking for, but for health and peeace of mind is well worth it
Is anything truly safe here in regards to food or beverages?
I just had dinner at KFC and drank a big ol' glass of Soy milk to wash down my zinger® chickenburger. Tasted pretty good.
I think it is relatively safe but I wouldn't get a glass of soy milk from some random street vendor.
Shouldn't it be soy juice? I've never seen a soybean with nipples. Just saying...

I think they call it soy milk back home because it looks like milk. Here they translate it as bean juice.

That's what I'd assume as well. I still find the term weird though.
If you are in Beijing or Shanghai there are places that sell the best soy milk ever, Silk from America, it is awesome and sweet.
If you dont have that, just go to starbucks and buy soy milk from that place, that is what i usually do.
