I see so much hate, malice, and prejudice every where I look. All nations, classes, and people seem determined to destroy one another. I like bologna and whipped cream but because you like whipped cream and bologna you must be evil and must be vanquished. That seems to be the mentality. So as an uneducated peasant I ask. "Is there any hope for the survival of our species?
There's no doubt we keep trying to wipe each other out with wars, and there's always the next pandemic just waiting to happen along with over population, drastic climate change, drug resistant bacteria etc etc so I think it's just a matter of time before our species gets a major downsize.
I read somewhere that all species go extinct eventually so there's that to consider, but I think that mankind is a bit like the herpes virus - you never really get rid of it, it keeps coming back.
If you follow the news it's easy to be disheartened by all the malice, hate and dangerous shit out there, but the news doesn't show you the good side of everyday people. If you're looking for hope just go for a walk around your neighborhood and see how many people are basically decent types who will try to do right by you if they can.
I can't count the number of times I'd be having a bad day - frustrations with not being able to communicate or culture shock getting me down or just waking up on the wrong side of bed and someone would do something simple to help me out or to be friendly, and it restores some of my faith in humanity.
Virtually all indicators are saying no.
earthizen:
Here is one of the many indicators. It is called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Notice the dates, they are in alignment with other indicators. https://youtu.be/pvlFy06BURs (need vpn in prc)
“In a business-as-usual scenario, the ocean is expected to contain one tonne of plastic for every three tonnes of fish by 2025, and by 2050, more plastics than fish [by weight].”
we are DOOMED
But certainly not in my livetime, or my kids or their kids..... BUT , we are DOOMED
I too like bologna and whipped cream... never tried them together, but I do love new things. doubt it will ever happen.... peaches and cream...... bologna and mustard and a pickle on a fresh piece of bread.

I like the good, strong German mustard,,,, the famous French one will do as a backup...
Things come and go,,, why should a species be around for long? If u want to, think about a different sort of time scale,,, haha,,, the one that has the sun burning out it’s fuel supply and expanding into a Red Giant,, I hope humans are around then,,, talk about a helluva Hollywood movie !

- Containing more than 99.8% of the total mass of the Solar System, the Sun is by far the largest object in the Solar System.
- 109 Earths would be required to even fit across the Sun's disk, and the Sun's interior could hold over 1.3 million Earths.
- Within the core of the Sun, the temperature (15,000,000 K) and pressure (340 billion times Earth's air pressure at sea level) of it is so intense that nuclear reactions actually take place.
- The Sun's energy output, produced by these nuclear fusion reactions, is approximately 3.86e33 ergs/second or 386 billion billion megawatts.
- The process that takes this energy to the surface of the sun following complex stages is called convection.
- This energy, released as heat as well as light, takes a million years to reach the surface.
- The Sun also emits low density streams of particles, also known as the solar wind. These winds blow through the solar system at 450 km/sec and consist mostly of electrons and protons.
- The Sun consists of the core, photosphere, chromosphere and corona, each with differing temperatures and components.
- Existing for about 4 and a half billion years, it has burnt up about half of the hydrogen in its core. This leaves the Sun's life expectancy to 5 billion more years, at which time, the Sun's elements will "swell" up, swallow Earth, and eventually die off into a small white dwarf.

One could consider/compare human to any other product .... most of them aren't doomed, but human is keep making new, better line.
Why would human be any different?
The real problem is the Earth, size wise .....
diverdude1:
darn,, did it again! Touched the damn down thumb when I meant up I’m just gonna keep my fat fingers away from those itzy-bitzy keys on this darn iPad.
anyway, thumbs up from me, and explain more about Earth size?
icnif77:
1st: 'Do you think Darwin said everything?' or in other words 'why would evolution stop and human would be the end of it?'
2nd: 'I won't tolerate anymore 'downs'!
3rd: Earth remains in the same size despite life constantly grows.
Humanity must decrease population (war, disease ....) or move to the outer space sooner or later .... and since we didn't find any habitable planet as of yet, human must 'adjust' her/himself, i.e. new improved 'product' is (must) be in the works.
