Q: Is there any point of having "Internet Relationship"?

You cannot see, you cannot touch, you cannot go out for dinner or see the movies,
go to the park or tickle one another
So why a lot of people do it?
What's the pros and cons?
Do you know anyone that started "dating" (LOL) via chats, email etc
and eventually it had the happy ending. A real marriage

Well, I'm for internet dating. In the world today, we can be scammed in our own backyard, so thinking that it could only be a ploy to be scammed can go both ways. It really opens the doors to a larger field, giving people opportunities that weren't orginally there.

At the end of this month I am meeting my Beijing based Philippino girlfriend whom I met online last month. I still believe a relationship that starts online can work, although I have broken up with 2 girls that I met this way - in both, we broke up before we even met, poor me!!!

NotGuilty:

I used to live in Philippines, in Cebu and Makati (which is Manila)
Filipino girls are great, very loyal. Also great place to live but not many jobs there.
Unless your firm sent you there. Is a matter of fact I'm seriously thinking of retiring there one day.. I speak Tagalog fairly good. but this ain't important since everybody speak English there.

Yes there is a lot of points actually, provided you come at it with some common sense. I started looking for a partner on the internet after I split up with my first wife because I simply thought it's a big world out there so let's see what it has to offer. I met a great lady from South Africa who turned out to be  a con artist and I sussed her out before spending any money on the relationship. I then met a couple of Chinese ladies one of whom seemed particularly nice and after 2.5/3 months of sending each other emails four or five times a day, every day, decided to meet. I flew to China and it was like meeting your best friend who you hadn't seen for years, we just bonded on the spot. I flew back to China a few months later and we got married, that was six years ago and we are still going strong. So yes it can work provided you keep your wits about you and avoid the scam artists.

If  both  treat  each other  serious , I think the internet relationship is quite  acceptable.

If your other option is no relationship, I think an internet relationship is a step up.  But, if it's only internet, I wouldn't stop looking in real life until that internet relationship became a real life relationship.

Yes, it can work, but be careful of the MOM-BOMB. I presume that everyone who has lived in China knows what that is. Well, anyway, I had one dropped on me a few weeks ago. I met this girl online a few months back. She was much younger than me ( 56-32) so it started out as just a friendship. Then a few emails turned quickly into 3 hours on web cam every night, followed by text messages by the dozen every day. We could talk about anything, I mean anything, and of course we soon realised we were falling in love. So I told her to tell her parents. So she did. Everything was fine, I even said NI HAO on camera to her mom, who thought I looked very young for my age...which, aw shucks, is actually true. I have lived in China for two years, in a different city to hers, so when my contract was coming to an end there, I began looking for, and quickly found, a great job in her hometown. She was thrilled. We started talking about love, sex and marriage. This was it, I thought, I have found the girl of my dreams. And I had too. Then a few weeks ago, on webcam, she appeared before me with a face on her like a wet rag. I asked what was wrong. She told me her parents had changed their minds about me. I asked why. She told me they now thought I was too old for her. I was flabbergasted. I was ok the previous week, but now I was too old. I didn't understand. But eventually I got it out of her. She had told them originally that I was 46 instead of 56. She had lied to them. I suppose she must have reckoned that they would accept me first, and then when the time came they would disregard my age. But unfortunately, the parents found out the truth too early for her one night a few weeks ago. I do not know how they found out, but it doesn't really matter how, they know now and that's it. Everything has come to an end. I am still going to that job in her hometown. But it is a big place, so we will probably never meet. She says she is heartbroken. And so am I. But in China, a girl will never go against her family, not even if it brings her heartache. So be very careful with Chinese girls. Whether on the internet, or webcam, or face-to-face, relationships with them are fraught with danger. Even the best of them will tell you lies. And they will even lie to their parents. I really love that girl. She says she loves me too. Do I believe her? Yes. No. I don't know. But thanks to her family and the dreaded MOM BOMB, I will never know. So be very careful. And there's no fool like an old fool....and I am in a very bad place right now. Very bad. Thanks for reading.

NotGuilty:

If you have spent some time in China then you should be aware of the fact that  the family opinion of any girl is a big factor. Sometimes the deciding factor. Not only your age but your status (financial, job etc).
You need to play your cards well, like a diplomat.
My question in the OP was a general one,
I chat non-stop for years, never took anything seriously but feel uncomfortable when the other side becomes serious.
I do travel and I've learned a lot over the years.
First you meet the family keep charming them and then slowly spill your beans about your age and/or size of your packet. Every country or even the region is different .
Nothing personal.
