Q: Is there a maildrop service foreigners can use in China (i.e. like Amazon Locker)

Hi all,

I'd like to use online shopping (AliExpress/Taobao) here in China. Is there anything like an Amazon Locker service? I.e. I want to order online and then send to somewhere I can pick up the goods.

My Chinese isn't good so it has to be foreigner friendly.

I found out my city has the HiveBox /FCBox lockers. However from what I can tell from their website you can only use these to send parcels.

And no, I don't want to send stuff to my school (they're useless) or use a Chinese person as a mailbox.

BTW I'm in a tier 2 city so I might not be able to use anything fancy that tier 1 cities have.

Thanks!

Unless you live in a real shithole your apartment complex should have a hive...even schools and hospitals have them for deliveries. I've never heard of them being used for sending anything. If you want to send the dude comes to your place. Recieving your delivery will be via a hive or sometimes the delivery company my use a local shop. Where i am here in a 2.5 tier city there are a couple if hives for SF and 2 convenience stores accept deliveries from different companies. If these aren't options, then you are probably shit outta luck apart from the receptionist where you work.

Thanks yeah there are Hives here but I can't understand how to use the website to receive packages. I managed to register and log in but that's about it.

Anyone have any tips on what menu options to use then please post them.

I tried sending stuff to my school but it was never seen again (sigh).

iWolf:

When the package is delivered to the hive the system should send a pin to your phone. 6 or 8 digits. Touch the screen to the "open" icon and punch in the number. Door opens. Sounds like the receptionist has been scoring some sweet gifts to take home for spring festival.....or she's in cahoots with the security guy.

You can arrange to have them delievered to a nearby Kedi store. Chinese use them or the community guard shack/office instead of having a delivery box.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
